BHUTAN

Bhutan has only one international airport, Paro International Airport (PIA), located in Paro in the western part of the country. Paro is 50 kilometers (31 miles) west of the capital city, Thimphu. By mid-2024, there will be a second international airport at Gelephu, which is about 200 kilometers south of Thimphu and borders the state of Assam in India.

Bhutan has two airlines operating, Drukair and Bhutan Airlines. PIA is connected to Bangladesh (Dhaka), India (Bagdogra, Guwahati, Gaya, Kolkata, and New Delhi), Nepal (Kathmandu), Singapore, and Thailand (Bangkok).

One can also enter Bhutan through land ports in Phuntsholing, Gelephu, and Samdrupjongkhar. Private jets and planes are also options. It’s possible to book flights directly on the airlines’ websites or use a ticketing or travel agent.
