Gasa

In Gasa, where the warmth of the hot springs meets the majesty of the mountains, every moment is a journey into the heart of Bhutan’s tranquil and timeless beauty.

Gasa, known for its stunning natural beauty and rejuvenating hot springs, is the least populated district in Bhutan, offering a tranquil retreat for visitors. Since 2019, the name “Gasa” translates to “land of happiness,” though it previously meant “land of blacksmiths.” The annual Gasa Tsechu is a cultural highlight, featuring a day fully dedicated to the “Goen Zhey.” Goen Zhey is also considered the origin of the Zhey category of song and dance in the country.

Gasa is also home to the expansive Jigme Dorji National Park, which boasts a rich variety of wildlife and offers numerous trekking routes for adventure enthusiasts. The park is a haven for biodiversity, housing rare species such as the snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, and red panda.

Another key attraction in Gasa is its famous hot springs, known as “Gasa Tshachu,” which are renowned for their therapeutic properties. The experience of soaking in these natural springs, surrounded by the serene beauty of Gasa, is both rejuvenating and invigorating.
